Reception for the olympic participants in Oberhof

Though many of the sportsmen arrived at the Frankfurt airport not until the morning of February 26th, the receptions for the Thuringian olympic participants took place the same day in Oberhof. Thousands of fans had gathered to welcome “their” athletes.

On February 27th Sven, former biathlete and now technician and trainer Frank Ullrich, were given a warm reception at the townhall of Sven’s hometown Schmalkalden by mayor Gellert, district administrator Ralf Luther, representatives of Schmalkalden’s trade and industry and about 500 fans. Frank Luck, despite a promise to come, didn’t. The mayor congratulated Sven for his two silver medals and asked the three about their olympic experiences and the district administrator handed over a honourary medal. There was a run on Sven’s autograph at the following autographing session. After that mayor Gellert gave a reception on a smaller scale inside the townhall, were the Sven Fischer-Fanclub was invited to come. So I among others had the opportunity to talk to Sven, Steffen Hoos and Frank Ullrich.

A few photographic expressions of the reception.

Thanks to Erik Hande, for letting me to publish his pictures.
